10 Lessons Learned From UFC Fight Night: Bader vs. St. Preux

9. There Continues To Be A Lack Of Flyweight Challengers

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3FsjjiazhOc Jussier Formiga picked up a win, but all it really did was remind us that both John Dodson and Joseph Benavidez already have victories over him. The shallowness of the flyweight division continues to be an issue. Yes, Formiga took home a decision Zack Macovsky, and he has won two in a row, but with losses to a man who has lost to champ Demitrious "Mighty Mouse" Johnson twice in Benavidez, and a man who has lost to Mighty Mouse once in Dodson, are we really chomping at the bit to see him enter the octagon with the champion? A second shot for Dodson is still the most entertaining prospect as far as a flyweight title bout is concerned, and Formiga is going to have to do a lot of work to even surpass Ian McCall when it comes to title talk. With two more wins, he'll have a valid argument, but right now, there's still little interest in seeing him fight for the strap.
