10 Lessons Learned From UFC 177

4. Bethe Correia Is Writing The Best Story in WMMA

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TJ3J8MmeKPI Bethe Correia called out Ronda Rousey's entire stable - the Four Horsewomen - and as of UFC 177, she has defeated two of them. Now, the first bout, against Jessamyn Duke, went to decision, and Duke is a TUF competitor who hasn't managed to win much thus far in her career. Shayna Baszler, however, is a veteran of the women's MMA world. something of a pioneer. And Correia lit her up. In the second round of their fight at UFC 177, the only fight that really was of any interest on the card, Correia showed why women so often steal the show on UFC cards - they are super competitive, still fighting to be recognized, and Correia definitely got that recognition tonight. She pushed Baszler up against the cage, and tee'd off on her. Strike after strike unanswered. Baszler tried to grab a leg and it got her nowhere. She was dead on her feet before long, and Big John came in to stop the fight. In her post-fight interview she said she wanted to take the belt from Ronda Rousey. Well, if Rousey wants to get revenge for her fallen team mates - given that Marina Shafir, the fourth horsewoman, doesn't fight in the UFC - she'll need to fight Correia, who has three straight wins in three UFC appearances. If Gina Carano doesn't sign, or sign in time, the UFC would be wise to book this fight. It's a huge grudge match, and after her interview with Rogan, Correia rose her hand again, and this time dropped two fingers. Then rose one, in reference to herself. She's not the legit number one contender, but she's made an argument for a shot, that's for sure.
