10 Lessons Learned From UFC Fight Night 52

4. At 39, Yoshihiro Akiyama Looked The Best He's Been In The UFC

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BUPAofclvlc We did pick Yoshihiro Akiyama to win his first fight in over two years at UFC Fight Night 52, but we certainly didn't expect him to look that good. Maybe it was the fact that Amir Sadollah had been out a couple years with injury as well. Maybe Akiyama was pumped to fight in his home country. Whatever the case, Akiyama dominated Sadollah, lighting him up with heavy blows, knocking him down, and nearly finishing the fight twice. In the end it was a one-sided decision for Sexyyama. After the fight he called for a bout with Wanderlei Silva, clearly unaware that Silva had retired earlier in the evening, but if Akiyama intends to keep fighting - and we hope he does - he should definitely get someone with some name value. The UFC would be wise to book him on one of the Asian versions of TUF.
