7. A Lack Of Relevant Fights Didn't Hurt The Card, But...

Outside of the main event of UFC Fight Night 49, there was not a single fight relevant to the title picture of any division on last night's card. It didn't hurt the action any, but it's not a precedent the UFC should keep setting. Co-main events especially need to be relevant fights or big spectacles, and last night's co-main fight was anything but. That's not to say Jordan Mein and Mike Pyle aren't great fighters - it's just that neither of them are getting anywhere near a title shot in the next twelve months. Yes, it was a free card and not a PPV, but the UFC got lucky on this one. And had one of the main event fighters gone down to injury, things could have got really bad really quick. That said the UFC pulled this one off.
