10 Lessons Learned From UFC Fight Night: Mousasi vs. Souza

2. Jacare Souza vs. Gregard Mousasi Is A Main Event

That's the first thing we fought when the main event of UFC Fight Night 50 got started: Now this is a main event! Two name fighters with history squaring off, with enough time having passed since their first fight (in Dream) to make the pairing interesting. That's a far cry from trying to sell T.J. Dillashaw vs. Renan Barao 2 months after their first fight, or worse, Dillashaw vs. Joe Soto after Barao had to pull out of the fight at the last minute. The UFC really needs to consider keeping this in mind when booking Pay-per-Views. This could have been an excellent co-main event behind Dillashaw, or even a main event on a relatively stacked card. Instead, we get it as the main event of a Fight Night card, while just a week before, the UFC offered up a main event at a Pay-per-View that almost no one cared about.
