10 Little Known UFC Facts

1. UFC Might Be Leaving Their Home Of Las Vegas

Las Vegas is the fight capital of the world, the location where UFC has made its home. Ironically it is also the very worst state for UFC to promote fights in, with it getting to a point where the MMA's number one company is talking about leaving Nevada. The reason for this is the Nevada State Athletic Commission, who are responsible for appointing octagon side judges. When a fight goes five rounds, these judges are responsible for declaring the winner based on points. The problem is, the Nevada judges have a terrible record for giving blatant wrong decisions. This is a huge frustration for UFC who don't get the same level of problem anywhere else. After judges awarded George St Pierre the UFC 167 main event decision (after Johny Hendricks clearly won), talks started within UFC about moving the company outside of Nevada. Dana White commented he was "scared" of promoting future events in Las Vegas and called it the "worst commission on the planet." Whether we actually see UFC follow through on their threat to leave Vegas remains to be seen. The company has a great relationship with MGM who own so many of the Vegas casinos, but how can they continue to promote in a state which ruins their main events? The State Athletic Commission did recently appoint a new boss, but that will change little, we are going to be getting the same judges and the same bad calls.
