10 Liverpool Players Who Started With A Bang

1. Robbie Fowler

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dbEup2C-EaE €œEveryone was saying, €˜He€™s too young€™. But I would go and watch him in the reserves - it would be a misty November night, and there would be a throng around the goal, the ball would end up in the back of the net and I would say, €˜That€™s Robbie who€™s got that€™ and it always was. I would put him right up there with Ian Rush as one of the greatest poachers. For a man who has been decreed a God on Merseyside for the last 20 years, it€™s hardly a surprise that he began his Liverpool career with a flourish. Having bagged a goal on his debut as an 18 year old novice in a 3-1 victory during a League Cup tie with Fulham in September 1993, Fowler duly stunned British audiences by helping himself to all five goals in the return leg at Anfield two weeks later. His first league goal proved an important one, as his 87th minute equaliser at Anfield spared the Reds€™ blushes from a humiliating defeat at the hands of struggling Oldham Athletic. In only his fifth league game the teenager had scored his first league hat-trick, bagging against Southampton. Indeed, his first 13 games for the club produced a remarkable 12 league goals - it€™s quite easy to see why Liverpool supporters became so enamoured with their local lad. He finished his first season as the club€™s top scorer with 18 goals in all competitions - not bad for a 19 year old. In today€™s market, he would surely be touted with a £60 million move to the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona and would have agents clambering over each other to hike up his salary. So there you have it - that's a wrap. What do you think? As always, feel free to leave your thoughts and opinions in the comment section below.
