First of all, Germany manager Joachim Low moved to announce the international career of Jerome Boateng - and several others - had come to an end, and then Bayern Munich made it clear that the defender was surplus to requirements at the Allianz Arena.

Many of Europe's top clubs would be interested in the World Cup winner, but one such club who could make a move is Maurizio Sarri's Juventus. According to reports, Bayern have reduced their asking price to £15 million as they look to cut their losses on a player who has won an impressive seven Bundesliga titles and a Champions League with the Bavarian outfit.

At 30 years of age, Boateng still has several years left at the top of his game. And with the Old Lady's ageing backline - Giorgio Chiellini 34, Leonardo Bonucci 32 - this is a deal that could well happen before the Italian transfer window closes on August 18th.
