Could it finally happen? Possibly...

The transfer of Paul Pogba to Real Madrid has rumbled on for a fair old while now, not helped by the fact that Pogba's agent has talked up his client's chances of moving from Manchester Untied to the Bernabeu.

From the outside, this looks like one of those transfers that could go down to the wire. Pogba has talked about his admiration for Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane, while Zizou is clearly keen to bring the World Cup winner to Los Blancos.

So, Madrid want the player, the player wants to go, and United aren't totally opposed to selling the Frenchman. What's the problem, then?

Well, if recent reports are to be believed, United want £180 million for their midfielder.

Steep, no? Very. But given Pog's tied down to 2021, the Red Devils still have some bargaining power with any suitors. The biggest factor in this deal being able to get over the line, however, seems to be whether or not Real Madrid can find a buyer for Gareth Bale.

If Madrid can get a decent fee for Bale - or at least get him off their wage bill - then they could finally look to lure Paul Pogba to the club.
