10 Man City Players Who Should Fear For Their Future
7. Jesus Navas
There was a time when Spanish winger Jesus Navas was unable to take up a place in the international squad due to his chronic homesickness. For Sevilla, that meant they were able to hang on to him for over a decade, with Navas spurning the opportunity to move to Chelsea in 2006 for the same reasons. Its a testament to the man that he has managed to overcome these mental difficulties and sign for Manchester City.
''It was a few years ago now. Its all in the past and Ive moved on, otherwise I wouldnt be here. Im ready for this. All everyone keeps telling me is that the weather in Manchester is terrible, very different from Seville. I have a wife and young baby, and having them with me in England will help me settle. I feel now is the right time to move on because Im ambitious and I always demand 100% for myself. - Jesus Navas, July 2013.
However, it must be said that he has flattered to deceive for the club. Navas contributed to just eleven of Citys 102 goals last season, despite being given 30 run-outs on the wing. He has started five league games this season, and has looked largely ineffective in each of them. With City tipped to make a move for Borussia Dortmund forward Marco Reus, activating his £28 million buy-out clause, dont be surprised to see goal-shy Navas bundled back to Spain in a cut-price deal.
