10 Man City Players Who Should Fear For Their Future

6. Gael Clichy

Gael Clichy is having a howler of a season. The longer Aleksandar Kolarov remains on the sidelines through injury, the better he seems to get, as his French team-mate churns in some woeful displays of defending. Always known more for his attacking, Clichy€™s lack of nous was exposed ruthlessly by Russian outfit CSKA Moscow during the Champions League tie earlier this month, which highlighted his deficiencies. With wayward passing, mistimed challenges and a hashed clearance that resulted in the winning goal for the Russians, Clichy capped a miserable performance that summed up a dreadful start to the season for the Frenchman. His confidence looks to be in tatters, and City supporters will be praying that Kolarov suffers no setbacks on his road to recovery from a calf injury. High on the list of priorities for Pellegrini should most certainly be a top-quality left-back, as Clichy has been continuously taken to pieces so far during the campaign.
''I really believe if you are a player who thinks only about money, then you could end up at Manchester City. You have to think if you want to play for a big club and have your image or if you want to play for a good club and earn big money. It is not the first summer where a club have spent big money to get big players. But it does not always mean a team will play well.۪۪ - Gael Clichy, July 2009.
So what changed first, Gael - your mind, or your principles?
