10 Man City Players Who Should Fear For Their Future

5. Stevan Jovetic

He arrived with such promise and bags of potential. Having plundered 27 league goals in his previous 58 games for Fiorentina, the 23 year old Montenegrin international was ready to illuminate the Premier League with his spontaneity, flair and above all, end product. Since arriving at Eastlands for £22 million, Jovetic has struggled with injury demons, restricting him to just 16 appearances in all competitions during his debut campaign. Three league goals were mustered as Jovetic struggled to get to terms with the English game, but Pellegrini was adamant that the Premier League would see the best of the highly-rated and immensely-talented forward this campaign. It was certainly a huge vote of confidence in his ability by sending Alvaro Negredo back to Spain without drafting in a replacement, leaving Jovetic with just two other strikers to compete with. However, it is nearly November and Jovetic has managed just two more goals for the club - both scored against Liverpool in late August. He has started just four times during this season€™s Premier League, despite rival Edin Dzeko€™s off-colour form. No longer a youngster at 25 years old, the Montenegrin has been in England for 16 months and can count the amount of league goals he has mustered on one hand. Patience has never been a virtue for the powers-that-be at Manchester City, and one would imagine that it€™s simply a waiting game for the hierarchy to grow tired of waiting for a return on their £22 million investment.
