10 Man City Players Who Weren't Worth The Hassle

Some great players, a couple potentially World Class. But their baggage was too much.

We live in a world where stacks of cash, neatly rolled into a tight ball can be rolled across the table, and exchanged for the services of a footballer's services. What is not for certain, however, is whether the talented player arrives with a decree of professionalism and honour. Those are traits that simply can't be bought. So, while Manchester City may be bank-rolled by a private equity company from the United Arab Emirates, they still can't escape the pitfalls that plague the more financially-challenged clubs, when entering the transfer market. Especially with Abu Dhabi's pumping of funds into the club in 2008, there was always going to be a danger of the club enticing the wrong sort of professional - epitomized by one particular 'superstar' who seemed to care more about the figures on the salary than he did about the name on the jersey. Even before Sheik Mansour's arrival, City managers have had to endure frustrating individuals, who have simply contributed nothing but turmoil within the club. Indeed, one player was even arrested for beating his team-mate to a blood-stained pulp. Take a look at the ten players who simply weren't worth the hassle, and left the City hierarchy wishing that they had cut the cord a lot sooner than they actually did.
