Focusing just on his international credentials, Gerard Pique has enjoyed a rather successful time of it since his move from Manchester United in 2008. Having won both a World Cup and a European Championships by the time he was 25, the Spanish centre-half has basically achieved everything one can in football, having won the lot in domestic terms with Barcelona. Who could have foreseen this sort of turnaround in career fortunes for the Catalan when he was deemed surplus to requirements at Old Trafford following a failure to dislodge either Rio Ferdinand or Nemanja Vidic from the starting line-up? Throughout his time in English football, Pique made four league appearances for the Red Devils, but considering the fact that he has already gone on to become more successful than both Vidic and Ferdinand, perhaps Ferguson will wish that he had tried a little harder to integrate him into the starting XI more often. Judging by their defensive crisis at the moment, Louis van Gaal will certainly wish his predecessor had. With 63 caps for his country, and those two medals in his locker, where is there to go from here for Pique? Undoubtedly, he is the most successful player in this list but its just a matter of maintaining those standards from here on in. So that's a wrap - what do you think?
