10 Massive Positives For Burnley This Season

9. Sean Dyche Himself

The loyalty to Dyche from players, supporters and directors remains, despite that seemingly precarious position. There is not a thought at any level of discontent replacing him €“ save for one article that appeared in the media - a betting site inevitably - and was laughed away. It suggested that only a change of manager at Christmas could arrest the immediate slide back to the Championship. In interview after interview Dyche remains buoyant and upbeat. He is loyal to his players. There has not been one single public condemnation by him of any result or performance. The nearest has been an admission that he gave them some stick at half-time in the Hull City game. It did the trick: they scored within 5 minutes of the re-start. If they lose a game he will prefer to praise the team for the great display of the first 45 minutes rather than criticise for the defeat in the second half. This has been a pattern of the season, to play so well in the first 45 minutes of several games but then concede critical goals in the second. After each defeat Dyche simply told the players that it was one game closer to the inevitable win. How positive is that? This is the kind of man who, had he been on the Titanic, would probably have viewed it as just the chance for a swim.
