10 Memorable Arsenal Goals Scored By Ordinary Players

7. Nicklas Bendtner vs Spurs - October 2007

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c4-46ochjSc He may have been narcissistic, arrogant and delusional, believing that he was 'one of the best strikers in the world', but there is no denying that for all his profligacy in front of goal, the Dane sure was entertaining. There were tantrums, scandals and breaches of discipline plaguing his time in north London, which seemed to worsen with each passing year, as the original Mario Balotelli dominated the front pages more so than the back. There were to be a couple of memorable moments however, including a Champions League hat-trick against Porto in 2010, and a last-minute equaliser against Aston Villa in 2008 to keep Arsenal top of the league table. His finest moment arrived was saved for his very first Premier League goal, which just happened to be the fastest goal ever scored by a substitute. Contesting a fiery north London derby in October 2007, stakes were never higher with Arsenal having just pipped their cross-city rivals for the final Champions League spot in May. With the scores tied at one apiece through strikes from Emmanuel Adebayor and Dimitar Berbatov, the Emirates home support were willing he ball into the net when Wenger threw in the Danish novice in a roll of the dice with 16 minutes left on the clock. In sensational fashion, Bendtner proceeded to jog straight from the touchline into the box to squarely connect with Cesc Fabregas' inch-perfect corner, planting a header past Paul Robinson in the Spurs net. Recorded at an official time of just 1.8 seconds after coming on as a substitute, the 19 year old wheeled away with glee and excitement etched across his facial features. It's fair to say he didn't continue as he began in north London.
