10 Memorable Liverpool Goals Scored By Ordinary Players

4. Luis Garcia vs Juventus; April 2005

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NBsraNDmuBU It's questionable whether Luis Garcia should even belong on this list. He was, after all, a very decent player for Liverpool. However, when one takes away his speculative efforts and cheeky goals, there was a lot of toiling out wide which was part of the reason why the Spaniard only lasted three seasons at Anfield. A fan's favourite he may have been, but he certainly was never going to be a contender for PFA Player of the Year. Now Garcia lit up Anfield plenty of times with numerous highlights, including the 'ghost' goal that sent them into the Champions League final and a Merseyside derby winner, but his finest moment came in the Champions League quarter-finals against one of the meanest and stringent defences in Europe. Italian giants Juventus were the opponents, and with Liverpool already having taken a sensational lead in an electric Anfield, Garcia sent the atmosphere into overdrive after 25 minutes, as he latched on to a bouncing ball and struck it first time from 25 yards. The crowd rose in unison as they watched it soar towards goal and nearly burst their lungs with delirium as it looped over Gianluigi Buffon's outstretched arms and nestled in the top corner. The stadium nearly exploded with excitement as the diminutive Spaniard skipped away with utmost glee twisted across his facial features. Fabio Cannavaro would grab an away goal for The Old Lady, but it wasn't enough to deprive The Reds of a famous win, courtesy of Garcia's wonder-strike.
