10 Mistakes Spurs Boss Mauricio Pochettino Has Made So Far
6. Forcing His Style On A Different Set Of Players
Maurico Pochettino's style is that of quick attacking football - the kind that Spurs played when they had the likes of Luka Modric and Gareth Bale in the team. Modric would immediately release the ball to get moves going and Bale would charge forward with speed an intent. Pochettino wants that kind of football at Spurs - he had it at Southampton with the likes of Morgan Schneiderlin and Adam Lallana - but Spurs don't have the players for that. As a result, he should have either signed players who could aid with that playing style or altered his tactics to suit the players he does have at his disposal. The likes of Etienne Capoue and Mousa Dembele are never going to lay the ball off as quickly or efficiently as Modric or Schneiderlin and the likes of Christian Eriksen and Nacer Chadli are never going to charge forward with the conviction of Bale or Lallana. The new signings didn't address the issue either. Pochettino is essentially trying to fit square pegs in to round holes.
