"Sir Les" - a moniker given to Les Ferdinand by Queens Park Rangers fans - is a legend at Spurs and the fact that Spurs fans still refer to him by his long-standing nickname is testament to that fact. In 97 league starts for Spurs (and 21 as a substitute), Ferdinand scored 33 goals and he scored six more in cup competitions. The majority of those goals came from his mighty heading ability, as he took advantage of the excellent crossing ability of the likes of Darren Anderton. In his time at Spurs, he formed some fantastic strike partnerships. In his early days in the mid-late 1990s, he partnered Jurgen Klinsmann and, later on, he complimented the footballing brain of Teddy Sheringham brilliantly. He also won the 1999 League Cup with the club. He worked at Tottenham on the coaching staff in various roles after rejoining the club in 2008 as a specialist striker coach and going on to become first-team coach, before departing in June of 2014 after the appointment of Mauricio Pochettino as manager.
