A member of the infamous 'Bad Boy Pistons' of the late 1980s and early 90s, Laimbeer was a brawny, dominant centre who excelled at grabbing rebounds. He also excelled at provoking opposing players with dirty fouls and unnecessary contact, before overreacting when they inevitably retaliated. Laimbeer is regarded as one of the original 'floppers', players who exaggerate contact to fool referees - something considered far more widespread in today's game.
