In one of the most shocking and surprising transfers in football history, not just in the Premier League, Arsenal managed to convince Sol Campbell to join them on a free transfer from bitter rivals Spurs.

After a full summer of rumours surrounding his future, it became clear Campbell was not going to stay with Spurs, seemingly having the pick of Europe when it came to where his future would lie. Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Juventus would all try to sign Campbell, but he would shock the world when he turned up with Arsene Wenger at Arsenal.

The move came as a complete surprise to the world's media. Not one story had been leaked about Campbell potentially signing for Arsenal, and it caught everyone off guard.

Campbell would have success with the Gunners to justify his move, including two Premier League titles, but he wiped away any relationship he had ever built up with Spurs, with many Spurs fans branding him a 'judas' from that day forth.
