Barely forty-eight hours ago we learned that Dominick Cruz had yet another ACL tear. Cruz is probably one of the most injured stars in UFC history. The WEC/UFC champion sat out two and a half years after an ACL tear, surgery, another surgery, a quad injury, groin injury... the list goes on. He was stripped of his UFC title, and UFC interim champion Renan Barao claimed unified gold. Cruz became something of a running joke. Fans questioned whether he would ever return, and if he could compete at a decent level when he did. Then he finally made it to the octagon this fall, stopping Takeya Mizugaki by knockout in 61 seconds. Cruz looked better than ever. A title shot against T.J. Dillashaw was proposed. Then Cruz announced the ACL injury this week. It's his right ACL this time. He's looking at a year or more out of the game. He's still just 29, but he's had more injuries than guys in their forties. Hopefully he comes back strong again.
