Alex Ferguson once suggested that Filippo Inzaghi was "born offside", having noticed the Italian's tendency to peel off the shoulder of the last defender in order to get himself a clean run on the keeper's goal.

Inzaghi was a poacher in the truest sense of the word, and perhaps one of the few strikers who could claim to have been more comfortable inside the box than van Nistelrooy, often preying on the mistakes of his opponents to sniff out an opportunity to score.

If off-the-ball movement and ice cold veins are your one trick, then you are probably going to have a decent career in the game - and despite catching an unfortunate reputation as a super-sub, nobody can deny that Inzaghi reached the very highest level.
