10 Players Who Didn't Fulfil Their Potential At Man Utd

5. Fabio

As the twin brother of current United defender Rafael, Fabio was expected to progress in the same fashion and carve out his career at United. It was meant to be the da Silva twins firing down both flanks and epitomising the exciting new wave of wing backs in the modern game, but you can blame Patrice Evra for putting an end to that dream - he remained United first choice left back and kept the Brazilian on the sidelines. Fabio's career failed to progress at the same pace of his brother, but that may have been because Alex Ferguson always saw a little bit extra in the younger of the two (that's Rafael by the way, and by ten minutes). Rafael would go on to be a first team regular as Gary Neville's successor, while Fabio got left behind. Even the disastrous David Moyes didn't see enough in him to keep him at the club. So much was promised of the twins, and there is a case for Rafael to be on this list - though he's had some good seasons at Old Trafford. But Fabio's story was different, and he's now been joined by Federico Macheda at Cardiff.
