10 Players Who Didn't Fulfil Their Potential At Spurs
4. Adel Taarabt
Spurs signed Adel Taarabt when he was just seventeen years old - initially on loan - from French club Lens. Within a few months, before he had even turned eighteen, he had made his debut as a substitute in a victory against West Ham United and a lot was expected of the youngster. After making a single further senior appearance against Chelsea, Spurs signed Taarabt permanently and a bright future was anticipated - indeed, he was even described as "the next Zinedine Zidane" - but it would not work out that way at White Hart Lane. Juande Ramos didn't even give Taarabt a squad number during his time at the club and, although that issue was rectified when Harry Redknapp joined Spurs, he was shipped out on loan to Queens Park Rangers - the team he would ultimately join on a permanent basis and who he still plays for to this day. Taarabt clearly has the talent - he has performed well for Queens Park Rangers and an impressive loan spell at AC Milan epitomises this - but his application was questioned at Spurs and that's a real shame. The Lilywhites could have had a real player on their hands.
