10 Players Everton Should Regret Not Signing

6. Craig Bellamy

A controversial figure of the highest order, it€™s likely that most Evertonians probably wouldn€™t have welcomed Craig Bellamy. However the player was pretty close to signing for the Blues back in 2005. The Welshman met manager David Moyes for a meeting to discuss a transfer to Goodison Park and was convinced that signing for the club would be a good idea. That first meeting was deemed a success but was later followed by a second one, which the winger labels as bizarre, saying that Moyes gave him a list of rules that included not shaking his head if he was given an instruction during a game and speaking directly to the manager if he had anything on his mind. Bellamy sensed the manager wanted a way out so pulled away from the deal first and later joined Celtic on loan instead. He later played for a whole host of clubs including Blackburn Rovers, Liverpool and Manchester City where he would be successful but still court controversy. However, each move saw him bringing quality and goals to his new side, with his spell at Blackburn in 2005/06 yielding 13 goals in 27 appearances in the league and there€™s no denying he could have added that extra quality to the Everton forward line which desperately needed it at the time, especially considering the lack of quality wingers which has plagued Goodison Park since Andre Kanchelskis left the club.
