Throughout his time at the club, Jurgen Klopp admitted that he was keeping an eye on the midfielder (and that he rated the player highly) but he decided not to activate the buy-back clause and the German U21 international moved to FC Koln this summer. Since then, Bittencourt has enjoyed the 2015-16 season and has grabbed two assists in eight games and aged only 21, has become one of the key figureheads in the side.
