10 Players Newcastle Should Break Their Transfer Record For

7. Bas Dost

Age: 25 Club: Wolfsburg Nationality: Dutch Estimated Market Value: £20 million League Apps (2014-15): 21 Wolfsburg placed a strangely high £30 million price tag on the forehead of their 6ft 5in striker and immediately Newcastle€™s interest in Bas Dost faded. But it shouldn't have. The Dutch forward started 2015 in sublime form and scored an insane 13 goals in 10 games in all competitions and flaunted a goal-to-game ratio of 1.3 towards the beginning of March. Newcastle lack height up front and Dost would offer them a traditional target man who can out-muscle defenders and offer a constant presence in the air. The over-zealous valuation by Wolfsburg was clearly intended to deter the vast amount of interest they were receiving for their prize striker but if Newcastle were to place the same figure they are rumoured to be offering for Saido Berahino, they would be signing a huge, unique talent.
