5. Fraser Forster - Loaned To Celtic For Two Seasons And Then For £2 Million (2010-12)
Newcastle United Appearances (2008-12): 0 Newcastle United Goals: 0 International Appearances for England: 3 Clubs (Since Leaving NUFC): Celtic (2012-14), Southampton (2014-) Career Appearances (Since Leaving NUFC): 234 Career Clean Sheets (Since Leaving NUFC): 118 To be fair to the club, when Newcastle allowed Fraser Forster to move to Celtic permanently for £2 million in 2012, they still had an array of goalkeeping talent - with Steve Harper going strong and Tim Krul beginning to prove his class as a Premier League stopper. However, since leaving the Magpies, Forster has become a £10 million player and an England international - and he has kept an incredible 118 clean sheets in 234 matches, more than one every other game. With Krul now struggling for form (and potentially wanting away), Harper having left, and Rob Elliot not looking entirely convincing, Newcastle could well wish they still had Forster on their books. Karl Darlow is arriving from Nottingham Forest in the summer, but Forster is still only 27 and could have been a Newcastle keeper for years to come - especially seeing as he was born in the North East. Another case of local talent being allowed to blossom elsewhere.
