Its usually a surprise when players rejoin sides, as one usually makes the assertion in their head that when an employee leaves, they have shut the door behind them forever. In the case of Craig Bellamy, however, he has gone through so many football clubs in the Premier League that he was bound to end up at one or two past employers before he pulled the curtain down on his career. He had enjoyed a decent first spell at Anfield in 2007, scoring seven league goals in 27 appearances, and notching a vital goal at the Nou Camp, but by the time he returned in 2011, he was 32 years old. Having fallen out of favour at Manchester City since Roberto Mancini assumed the reigns of control in December 2009, the Welshman had been courted by the likes of Spurs, Celtic and even hometown club Cardiff City, but nobody really envisaged that he would return for a second spell in Merseyside.
''Ive grown up with Kenny Dalglish, now to be signed by him is a massive honour. When Kenny took over, watching as a fan last season I got the buzz as well and it was great to see Liverpool end the season well. Im very happy. Its been a long couple of months, I had to be patient and believe something like this could happen. - Craig Bellamy, August 2011.
