10 Players Who Probably Regret Leaving Barcelona

10. Giovani Dos Santos

In 2006, Giovani dos Santos had a promising Barcelona future, and was tipped to break into the Catalan's senior set-up. Fast forward three years and he would be playing Championship football for Ipswich while being shunted from pillar to post on loan at Tottenham Hotspur. Things were looking good for Dos Santos when, in 2006, the attacking midfielder was invited to the pre-season tour of Barcelona's senior squad. He scored on his senior debut for the Spanish giants during a friendly match on 29 July against Danish club AGF Aarhus and did enough to persuade former Barcelona B manager Juande Ramos - then of Tottenham - to bring him to White Hart Lane in 2008. The move was a disaster. Dos Santos only made 15 appearances for the Lilywhites during a very forgettable four year spell that saw him farmed out on loan to Ipswich, Galatasaray and Racing Santander, before being sold to Mallorca in 2012. Dos Santos lasted only 12 months at Mallorca before being sold to Villareal, and his career has only gone backwards since leaving Barca.
