10 Players Relieved They Didn't Sign For Chelsea

4. Sergio Aguero

''I know that people were saying they wanted me during the summer. It۪s nice that people say I could play in a team like Chelsea, one of the best in the world. I like it and it makes me happy but I am the same person as ever and I think the same as before.۪۪ - Sergio Aguero, November 2009.
In October 2009, Chelsea had offered £35 million for the Athletico Madrid ace, according to the Spanish side€™s manager, Miguel Angel Gil Marin.
''Chelsea are a great club. They have become one of the most feared in Europe over recent years. I look at players like Didier Drogba and Frank Lampard and they have been, and still are, the best players in their position in the world. I could really learn from players like that, there is no doubt. London would be a really amazing city to live, myself and my wife could be really happy there.۪۪ - Sergio Aguero, April 2010.
However, when the Argentine hitman finally did hand in his transfer request at Athletico in May 2011, it would be Manchester City who would jump to the front of the queue to snatch his signature, beating off the long-standing interest from west London. He has since scored 85 goals in 132 appearances for the Citizens, with City bagging two league titles and a League Cup during his time in Manchester. Chelsea, on the other hand, have no league titles since 2010 to show for their efforts. And in this sport, would Sergio ever have sacrificed that glorified moment in the dying minutes against QPR in May 2012 for anything else?
