Memphis Depay was arguably the single most exciting player to be linked to White Hart Lane this summer. Depay was one of the highlights of this summer's World Cup, playing in four of the Dutch teams World Cup matches first coming on as a sub in their second and third group stage matches against Australia and Chile, as well as in their second round match with Mexico, before earning a starting position for the quarter final against Costa Rica. He scored two goals having previously never scored for the national side and grabbed one assist. He was also linked to Manchester United over the summer - who are, of course, managed by the man who picked him for the World Cup squad, Louis van Gaal - but he went on to sign a new long-term contract with PSV that expires in 2018. He has since gone on to star for the club with a number of goals and assists. That said, we all know that contracts mean very little in football these days and Spurs should not be put off. Going back in for the player in January in order to potentially form an attacking midfield trio of Depay, Christian Eriksen and Erik Lamela at White Hart Lane is a mouth-watering prospect to say the least.
