It has recently become apparent that Spurs are amongst a number of big clubs watching Everton's James McCarthy with a potential view to a January bid for the player - and that could be a very good move. Although their rivals for his signature are said to include Manchester City and Manchester United, McCarthy may feel he has more of a chance of regular game time at Spurs and could opt to move to White Hart Lane over the Manchester clubs. McCarthy is a seasoned Premier League pro and could fit the bill if Mauricio Pochettino wants to change the look of his line-up of midfielders. The former Hamilton Academical and Wigan Athletic man is a Republic of Ireland international and he attracted the attention prior to his move to Everton, where he joined up with his former Wigan boss Roberto Martinez. An industrious player, McCarthy seems to be stalling on a new contract at Goodison park and that could be good news for potential suitors.
