Benoit Assou-Ekotto lost his place at Spurs at the start of the 2013-14 season and was shipped out on loan to Queens Park Rangers in the Championship, where he was reunited with former Spurs boss Harry Redknapp. Then, after an appalling on-field incident at the 2014 World Cup with Cameroon in which he head-butted a team-mate, he disgraced himself enough to ensure he wasn't even named in the Spurs squad for either the Premier League or Europa League this season. Now that the 2014-15 season is around halfway complete, he has spent almost a year and a half out in the cold, earning a fortune for offering Spurs nothing. The club may try to offload him in January, but it's not guaranteed that anyone will want him and he should have been offloaded long ago. Assou-Ekotto has made 205 appearances for Spurs in all competitions since joining the club in 2006.
