If it's pace that Newcastle United are after this summer then Johnny Russell would certainly fit the bill. The two-cap Scotland international winger netted 46 times in 120 appearances for Dundee United before Derby County brought him south of the border in the summer of 213 - and he has performed pretty well in the Championship since, utilising his blistering speed. A return of 17 goals in 72 games for Derby is decent for a winger and, although Russell is never likely to set the world alight, McClaren could be tempted to bulk out his squad with cheap signings like the Scotland international.
