10 Players Who Stole A Living From Spurs
1. Simon Dawkins
Up until 2014, Simon Dawkins had spent his entire career at Tottenham Hotspur up to the point of being 26 years old, since beginning it in 2004 as a youth player and signing a professional contract in 2008 - but he didn't make a single appearance for the club. That truly is a remarkable statistic.
In the 2008-09 season, Dawkins spent 14 games on loan at Leyton Orient without scoring a single goal. In the 2011-12 season, he was shipped out to Spurs MLS partner club San Jose Earthquakes, where he scored 14 goals in 53 appearances. In January of 2013, he was given his first real Premier League opportunity with Aston Villa a loan spell which saw him accumulate a mere 4 appearances without scoring. Finally, he was loaned to Derby County in October of 2013 and he signed for them permanently in January of 2014.
He was actually released from Spurs briefly in 2009, but returned on a non-contract basis immediately and impressed enough to earn another contract. He had trials at many clubs during his time at White Hart Lane, including RC Strasbourg, AFC Bournemouth, Celtic and FC Twente - but he didn't impress during any of them.
How he lasted at Spurs until the age of 26 is an utter mystery - it was obvious that he wasn't going to make the grade long before that, so he was basically just taking money for nothing.
