Combative Egyptian international midfielder Hossam Ghaly joined Spurs in January of 2006 from Dutch side Feyenoord. He arrived with a decent reputation, having already been eyed-up by Arsene Wenger at Spurs' North London rivals Arsenal, but failed to deliver in the Premier League in rather spectacular fashion. His spell at White Hart Lane lasted three years - during which time he was loaned out to Derby County - and he only made 21 Premier League appearance in that time (and four of those came from the bench). Basically, he only played for half a season, despite being there for three full seasons, meaning 5/6 of his time being paid by Spurs was spent doing nothing for the club. He left in 2009 and headed to Saudi Arabia to play for Al Nassr. His subsequent travelled epitomised how out of depth he was in the Premier League, as he moved to Al Ahly in his homeland, then to Lierse in Belgium, then back to Al Ahly where he still plays now.
