10 Players That Leicester City Could Sign To Avoid Relegation
7. Sam Byram (Leeds)
Previously linked to clubs such as Sunderland and Everton, Sam Byram could provide great competition at right-back for Leicester City. With the controversial Danny Simpson still being the subject of an internal investigation at the club, it could be a great opportunity for Leicester to sign the promising Leeds United defender. At only 21, Byram has forged himself the reputation of a consistently high-performing defender in the Championship and could be ready to make the step-up to the Premier League. After progressing through Leeds' youth academy he has gone on to make over 100 appearances throughout his relatively short career, highlighting the great potential that the Englishman holds. With only Ritchie De Laet and the aforementioned Simpson available to Leicester, Byram could be a great buy for the Midlands club if he continues his upward trajectory. With youth on his side, he could serve the club for many years to come if he proves to be a consistent performer at the top-level of English football. However, Leeds United may not allow their star defender to depart Elland Road without a fight. The club rejected a big-money bid from Southampton last season in order to keep hold of Byram. But, his current contract at the Yorkshire club expires next year. If they do not wish to sell him soon, his contract may run-down and he will be able to leave his boyhood club on a free transfer. Clubs, including Leicester, could capitalize on this by offering Leeds a decent fee which they would not receive otherwise. Hopefully, Claudio Ranieri follows this method and Byram is wearing the royal blue of Leicester City in the near future.
