10. Diego Maradona
Granted, Diego Maradona was never actually on the books at Spurs, but it wouldn't be right to to write a list of this nature and not include him, given that he has worn the white of the club. The Argentinian legend - one of the greatest footballers who has ever lived - donned a Spurs kit for fellow countryman Ossie Ardiles' testimonial match in 1986. His appearance ensured a sell-out crowd as Inter Milan visited White Hart Lane to provide the opposition - against whom Spurs won 2-1 - and he linked up absolutely brilliantly in a dream midfield alongside Glenn Hoddle. It was as if they'd played together for years. Rumours predictably started linking Maradona with a move to Spurs, but the dream deal was never going to happen.
