10 Players Who Must Regret Joining Rangers

10. Andy Webster

When Andy Webster signed for Rangers permanently in 2008, a lot of fans were wondering exactly when they were going to see the best out of the defender. After all, Webster had been on loan at Ibrox since the previous year, but had only made one first team appearance. Instead of becoming a vital part of the Rangers back line, the player was injury-hit and seemed miserable at the club. It'd be unfair to lay all the blame for Webster's failings at the feet of the club itself, he has to take at least some portion of the blame. His wage was a complete waste of weekly funds, and there was no return on that investment aside from one goal against lowly Gretna in September, 2007. What baffled supporters most was when the player went out on loan to Dundee United and instantly became an important part of their squad. In many ways, Andy Webster seemed happier away from Rangers. Maybe he simply couldn't cope with the pressure at the club, or perhaps he wasn't in favour of the training methods. Whatever the case, Webster returned to the team he earned a reputation with, re-joining Hearts in 2011. Since then, the man has expressed regret over how his Rangers career turned out, saying it would have been better to not happen at all.
