Currently tearing sh*t up in the MLS, Obafemi Martins left Newcastle United following the club's relegation to The Championship. During the 2008/09 campaign the former Inter Milan man only managed to score eight goals in 24 appearances following nine in 31 during the previous campaign, and 11 in 33 in his first on Tyneside. It's safe to say that a season in a lower league will have done him the world of good, like it did for so many of the bigger names in the United squad. However, and more than likely due to his inflated wages, he was allowed to leave United jetted off to Germany and Wolfsburg for around £9 million before joining Russians Rubin Kazan a year later. A League Cup winning strike while on loan at Birmingham City followed before he joined Levante for a season in 2012. This isn't pretty reading, is it? Oba then joined Seattle Sounders in 2013 and has scored 34 goals in 70 appearances to date. However, looking at how The Championship turned the fortunes of so many United players on their respective heads, you can't help but wonder what it could have done for him.
