10 Players Who Rejected Liverpool
5. Michael Laudrup
One of the greatest players of his generation shook hands to join Liverpool from Brondby in the summer of 1983, but the Reds managed to scupper their own deal.
Laudrup (who admitted he was a boyhood Liverpool fan) had even agreed personal terms, but when it came to sign the contract, the then English champions attempted to increase the length of his three-year contract by 12 months at the last minute.
This led to a stalemate between the two parties and the transfer collapsed, Laudrup ended up moving to Juventus instead. Congratulations Liverpool, you played yourself.
It has to go down as one of the biggest missed transfer opportunities for the Reds. Admittedly, they already had a stellar line-up, but can you imagine what they would have been like with Laudrup behind players like Ian Rush and Kenny Dalglish?!
