Probably the one we all thought of when we saw this list, not that he likes to mention it of course! Although to be fair, not many people can say they've turned down Ferguson TWICE.

The first instance of Shearer snubbing an Old Trafford move came in 1992. As Sir Alex Ferguson's side took time to raise the funds for his transfer (WHEN WILL YOU LEARN?!) from Southampton, Blackburn Rovers wasted no time and signed the man who would win them the 1994-95 Premier League title.

Then in 1996, both Manchester and Newcastle United bid £15 million for Euro '96's Golden Boot winner. After extended talks at Old Trafford, a last-minute meeting with Kevin Keegan persuaded Shearer to join the Magpies instead.

Shearer became Newcastle's highest ever goalscorer and a club legend. United didn't do too badly either but just imagine what might have been had the best English striker of his generation joined Manchester United instead.
