Appearing at No.2 on the list, Adebayor was a transfer target for Moyes' men whilst playing for Monaco in 2005. Again it was Arsenal who triumphed by signing the big Togolese striker. His fairly average hit rate of 18 goals in 78 appearances for Monaco didn't deter managers like Moyes and Wenger from seriously looking at him. Monaco had after all produced Thierry Henry and Emmanuel Petit amongst others. Toulouse, Everton and PSG were all interested with Adebayor at the time but again, he too wished to stay a little longer at his current club. An undoubted success story in the Premiership, Everton would have dearly loved to have seen Adebayor scoring goals in their own colours.
