10 Popular UFC Fighters That Will Never Be Champion
7. Roy Nelson
Heavyweight, 20-9, Age 38 The aging big man, and winner of The Ultimate FIghter 10 has had a long and surprisingly heralded martial arts career. The former Heavyweight Champion of the pioneering IFL, Roy Nelson is loved by fans because his physique gives them hope. He will fight whoever they ask and no man may never finish him. Other Heavyweights routinely tout him as the toughest man they have ever faced. With all his skills, he has done an admirable job of filling holes in the Heavyweight ranks as the old guard was dying out. Unfortunately, Nelson has lost to many of the top contenders above his #9 ranking. At his age and the opportunities he is expected to get at this point, he just cant jump those guys without something drastic. Compounding this, it seems that every Heavyweight needs time off for injury after every fight. Not only is every mans nemesis, time, working against him, the boss, Dana White, doesnt like Roy much at all. He has been a notable fighter in the class, especially when the UFC needed it, but the hard facts say the bosses wont be giving him the call for a chance at the belt.
