7. An African Nation To Go Far

Football is immensely popular throughout Africa, but teams from the continent have famously struggled to get too far in the competition. However, several African nations have still managed to make their mark on the World Cup in years gone by, and it's certainly possible that we'll see another African team go far this summer.

On three separate occasions, African teams have made it to the quarter finals. Most recently, we saw a gifted Ghana squad bravely carry the spirit and soul of the continent into the knockout rounds, sending the USA home in the round of 16 and very nearly beating Uruguay in a controversial quarter final.

This year, Africa will be represented by Nigeria, Morocco, Senegal, Tunisia, and Egypt. A couple of those teams might struggle to get out of their groups, but if Mohamed Salah can play, Egypt have a great chance of making it to the knockout rounds. Senegal and Nigeria also have a lot of talent among their ranks and could spring a few surprises this summer.
