10 Premier League Players Who Still Have Much To Prove This Season

6. Siem de Jong (Newcastle United)

Having joined Newcastle United in 2014, Siem de Jong has managed only five appearances. After being out for months on end with a torn thigh muscle, the Dutch international suffered a collapsed lung just as he was getting back to full fitness.

Though his talent isn't so much in doubt, his injury proneness is very much up for discussion. The attacking midfielder was on the bench for Newcastle's trip to Old Trafford on the weekend, though he didn't feature.

The 26 year-old will undoubtedly be desperate not to be tarnished with the same transfer flop brush as his younger brother Luuk, who failed to find the net during 12 incredibly disappointing appearances with Newcastle two seasons ago.
