10 Premier League Transfers That Won't Happen This Summer

7. Mario Balotelli To Arsenal/Liverpool

Apparently, AC Milan are so unhappy with last season's 14-goal striker Mario Balotelli that they're trying to "bundle him out the door" this summer, which sounds very uncomfortable. It also sounds like a load of old codswallop. Balotelli has been linked with a move to either Arsenal or Liverpool in recent weeks and his club are so desperate to get rid that they've apparently slashed their asking price for the Italian former Manchester City star. Balotelli was in fine fettle last season as he banged in 14 Serie A goals and has found the back of the net 26 times in 43 league appearances during a successful spell at Milan since leaving City two seasons ago. And that has attracted interest from Arsenal and Liverpool, though Gunners boss Arsene Wenger recently dismissed the rumours as "an invention". The Frenchman said of the Balotelli gossip:

'No. No, that€™s pure invention. We cannot believe absolutely everything that is on internet or is in newspapers. Sometimes it€™s created by agents or by press who needs news. But in that case, it€™s not true.'

Meanwhile, respected journalist James Pearce of the Liverpool Echo recently said he'd be "very surprised" if Liverpool went for Balotelli this summer. He said when asked on Twitter by a fan whether he thought there was any scope of the Reds trying to sign the Italian forward to bolster their striking options:
"Not heard anything. I'd be very surprised if Rodgers went for him."
After selling one controversial star in Luis Suarez, it would seem a little far-fetched to imagine Rodgers bringing another mad-cap striker to Anfield given Balotelli's track-record for mischief...
