4. The Worst PPV Numbers In Recent Memory
UFC 173 drew barely 200,000 buys. Now, not many people were excited for the Renan Barao vs. T.J. Dillashaw title fight - and boy were they wrong. Dillashaw scored the upset in a fantastic fight, beating the hitherto dominant Barao from pillar to post. So low sales sort of matched expectations. UFC 174 however... expectations likely would have been numbers in roughly the same range as 173. Yes, flyweights were headlining, but MightY Mouse is a skilled fighter who has a lot of exposure from headlining FOX cards. Andrei Arlovski was also on the card, a big name from the past. The card should have at least gotten close to 200,000 buys. Instead, it's rumoured that UFC 174 failed to break 100,000 buys - which would make it the first time since 2005 that the company has failed to hit the 100K mark. If it holds true (keep in mind that the UFC does not release official buy rates), Dana White is going to have an awfully hard time defending it.
